TeeRoy's 2 Cents:
- There should be justice for Ahmaud, but accusing police of being conspirators is a bit of a stretch.
- Charges weren't filed until a third prosecutor took over the case. This was definitely the good ole boys watching each other's backs.
- Let's be real: The McMichaels and Bryan don't have millions, and what they do have they're surely spending on lawyers. The county has much deeper pockets.
The family of Ahmaud Arbery has filed a civil rights lawsuit (Tuesday), the first anniversary of his death.
Wanda Cooper is suing Greg and Travis McMichael and William Bryan -- the three men directly involved in his death while he was jogging in Georgia last year. But she's also named a number of police officials and Glynn County itself.
Cooper says that the three were actually deputized by Glynn County police that Greg McMichael even had a police-issued gun. She also alleges that officials tried to sweep the killing under the rug, since Greg McMichael had once been employed by the police department.
It took more than two months -- and the leak of video of Arbery's shooting -- for arrests to be made in the case. (TMZ)
