California natives like The Game and others are speaking out about the wildfires destroying Los Angeles County.
The Drillmatic rapper hopped on Instagram Wednesday night, January 8, to provide an update on his home and warn fellow Los Angelenos to evacuate. In his post, The Game included a compilation video of apocalyptic scenes of neighborhoods engulfed in flames and more footage showing the chaos in his hometown.
"This is just sad. Los Angeles is really hurting right now," The Game wrote in his caption. "If you are anywhere near fires… please pack what’s necessary & evacuate immediately !!!!!!!!"
"I have many friends, neighbors & people I know that have lost everything," he continued. "My own home & those around it are in extreme danger as the Santa Monica mountains fires continue to spread & has now even reached the Hollywood hills close to Runyon Canyon. There are also fires picking up in other heavily mountain areas in surrounding areas. To my friends who are trying to tough it out & stay home hoping it won’t completely come your way, be smart & leave now !!!!!"
The Game is one of numerous celebrities impacted by the raging fires that have devastated several areas in Los Angeles since Tuesday. Norwalk native Eric Bellinger also posted footage of flames ripping through his community and the firefighters who've put their lives on the line to put them out. L.A. resident D-Nice shared a haunting image of one of the wildfires burning in his backyard.
"It’s truly heartbreaking out here in Los Angeles," he wrote. "I’m sharing this from my roof deck, witnessing the devastation around us. My family and I had to evacuate, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by these wildfires. We’re praying for safety and strength for all those impacted during this difficult time."
According to the Los Angeles Times, this is the most destructive wildfire in the city's history. Since the Eaton fire broke out on Tuesday, several other areas in Los Angeles have been charred by Palisades, Sunset, Woodley, Lidia and Hurst fires. A seventh fire in Studio City also broke out overnight. As of this report, at least five people have died and the death toll is expected to rise in the coming days. Celebrities across the nation have expressed their shock over the historic fires including Meek Mill. The Philly native took to X and shared the trauma he experienced after he escaped a fire in his childhood home.
"Prayers to la 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I never knew about fire trauma until my house caught on fire," he wrote. "I was smelling fire in my sleep jumping up for 3 years… I didnt know that type of trauma existed, so I was just dealing with it as a kid!"
