FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said the bureau will soon release video debunking conspiracy theories that convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was murdered father than having died by suicide in his jail cell.
“There’s video clear as day,” Bongino told FOX & Friends Thursday (May 29) morning (h/t the New York Post). “He’s the only person in there and the only person coming out. You can see it.”
Bognino, who had previously worked as a conservative talk radio host before being selected for his FBI role by President Donald Trump in February, stressed that "the actual act" of Epstein's suicide wasn't shown, however, the footage would prove he was the only person around at the time of his 2019 death at Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.
“There is video and when you look at the video, and we will release it, we’re working on cleaning it up to make sure you have an enhanced – and we will give the original so you don’t think there are any shenanigans – you will see no one in there but him. There’s just nobody there,” Bongino said. “I say to people of the time — if you have a tip, let us know — but there is no DNA, there’s no audio, there’s no fingerprints, there’s no suspects, there’s no accomplices, there’s no tips. There is nothing. If you have it, I’m happy to see it.”
Epstein's death was ruled a suicide in 2019, however, conspiracy theorists have argued otherwise given that he was awaiting trial on child sex-trafficking charges and had links to several rich and famous people.
“I’m just telling you what we see in the file,” Bongino said when asked about the Epstein case on Thursday. “I just want to be crystal clear on this. I am not asking anyone to believe me. I’m telling you what’s there and what isn’t.”
“There’s going to be a disclosure on this coming shortly,” he added.
Bognino had previously faced backlash from MAGA supporters after he and FBI Director Kash Patel both declared that Epstein's death was indeed by suicide earlier this month.
“I have reviewed the case. Jeffrey Epstein killed himself. There’s no evidence in the case file indicating otherwise,” he wrote on X at the time (h/t the New York Post).
