Roc Nation Distribution has allowed all independent artists to gain a better understanding of their audience through its new dashboard, and artists like Russ are sharing their thoughts about it.
On Monday, November 17, Roc Nation Distribution launched its all-new dashboard that allows artists who distribute music through the company to obtain detailed streaming analytics, including real-time audience and social media insights. It also provides seamless music and video distribution to 200+ platforms, streamlined royalty payments, publishing administration, rights distribution, and plenty more.
“The introduction of this new dashboard will be a game-changer for independent artists releasing music with Roc Nation Distribution,” said Roc Nation Distribution President Krystian Santini.
“It’s a one-stop shop that will enable artists to receive a holistic understanding of their followers, so they can build impactful strategies and broaden their music’s reach without financial barriers," Santini continued. "This dashboard is democratizing access to tools and information historically reserved for the very few established label superstars. Our technology is uniquely ours and sets a new standard with no equivalent in today’s music industry.”
Roc Nation Distro's new dashboard provides artists with breakdowns of their audience demographics, access to mentions and hashtags associated with their brand, plus so much more. There are no subscription fees or upfront costs. It even allows artists to own their masters and retain 85 percent of their music earnings. While the company's goal is to empower independent artists, others like Russ believe their business model is "madness."
"An 85/15 split to press 'upload' is madness," Russ posted to X. "Major labels take 15% distro off the top too so it seems like they just modeled the business off of that. If you’re an artist, this makes no sense to sign up for imo."
Russ' comments have sparked a debate over Roc Nation Distribution's new dashboard. See what others have to say about the company's new move below.
